I've been working from a dvd tutorial that I have got and on it was a Grunge Text intro. The whole thing is made from static photoshop layers that have had vecor masks applied to them so these are imported into after effects. The layers are all set up as 3d layers with a single null to control them. The image takes (loosely) the principles of animation, where you have anticipation (the screen is moving and the black text are maniffests before any text) to action and follow on. Anyway you can see below what is possible just using a static image.
